We last visited this loyal customer in ‘23. We were back to overseed the lawn, and deliver and spreading 2 x cubic yards of premium topsoil (best in the city), and 2 x cubic yards of red mulch. They had several areas that needed special attention, including where they had a tree removed, where the kids had a trampoline, and an uneven boulevard and front lawn (in some areas).

Helped transform this amazing and unique property tucked away in the North-East corner of Caledon. Delivery and spread of 12 x cubic yards of top quality 50:50 mix soil, as well as laying 6,000 square feet of fresh sod.

We had the pleasure of working with our customer with several properties, this one just off Mississauga Road, backing onto Mississauga Golf Club. 4 x cubic yards of natural cedar mulch and 4 x cubic yards of premium soil and top dressing.

This deep lot in Mississauga in Mississauga has a backyard with a large, steep hill for a lawn. We brought 2 x cubic yards of fresh black premium soil, the customer cut the lawn and overseeded himself just before we got there, and we did the work. Was a great workout running those hills while pushing 125 lbs of soil, but turned out great.

One cubic yard of black mulch to freshen up these gardens of these annual customers of ours in Etobicoke.

A heavy top dress and overseed for our customer in Mississauga who is having some issues with her lawn. 2 x cubic yards of premium black soil spread front and back.

We finally completed the filling of these massive garden beds just as the rain got intense. 11 total
Cubic yards of soil, including 3.5 yards of cow manure. The home owners are ready to begin growing their crops for the season.

While filling these beds this past week, we realized there is a bit more debris in the cow manure so it’s important for customers to know what to expect when purchasing organic or manure compost, there can be more debris than expected such as pieces of plastic, etc. With that being said, here is a quick list of the benefits of adding cow manure, the natural fertilizer, to your vegetable garden:

-rich in essential nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium

-the organic matter in cow manure enhances soil structure, promotes nutrient retention, and promotes water infiltration and drainage

A year ago when the owners were building their custom home in Oakville, we prepared their garden beds and removed a bunch of their poor soil. Today we were back and filled them with 3 x cubic yards of triple mix for their plants and flowers.

Beautiful house and neighbourhood on Royal York Rd. in Etobicoke. We spread 12 x cubic yards of black mulch.

Due to the acidity of pine trees affecting the ability to grow grass on certain parts of the lawn, we spread lime down and triple mix soil for a fresh ground cover the home owners are going to plant. We also aerated, spread a special overseed the owners purchased for these conditions, and spread/top dressed 4 yards of soil.

Our customer who we did a lawn installation for last summer called us this spring as he build two massive, gorgeous garden beds to grow vegetables this season. Although we measured and calculated, we weren’t 100% certain how much triple mix and cow manure it would require. So we arrived with 4 x cubic yards to start. Was the first beautiful Saturday this season, and we filled the smaller beds. However, the large portion is going to require another 4 x cubic yards so we’ll be back this week to complete the job. When we’re done, he’s going to be able to grow a large assortment of fresh veggies. Doesn’t get more farm to table than growing it yourself in your own backyard.

Our customers in Parkdale, Toronto contacted us needed a top up for their driveway. It has 3/4 clear on the surface but after several years of vehicle traffic, it has become worn down and muddy this spring. We came early Saturday morning to avoid traffic and spread 2 x cubic yards of HPB (High Performance Bedding) on top of the driveway. It now looks clean, and won’t be a muddy mess when it rains. We even had several neighbours who were out for a morning walk compliment us on the new look.

Section 1: Dethatching Your Lawn

What is THATCH? Thatch is a matted layer of grass stems, roots, and other organic debris that builds up faster than it can decompose. Thatch accumulates immediately below the green surface of the lawn on top of the soil at the base of the blades.

A layer of thatch that is less than ½ inch thick is normal and doesn’t present a
cause for action. In fact, a thin layer of thatch is a good thing: it reduces soil
compaction and increases tolerance for cold and heat by protecting the crown
(the point on the plant where the grass growth originates). Thatch can also
reduce water loss through evaporation.

If the thatch is more than ½ inch thick, it may be time to dethatch your lawn.
Your grass won’t have access to air, water and nutrients because the thatch
blocks them from reaching the roots. A thick layer of thatch can harbour
disease-causing insects, and fungi, prolong high humidity that promotes
disease, and bind or tie up pesticides. And as thatch builds, grass roots knit into
the thatch layer instead of the soil, where they easily succumb to
environmental stresses such as prolonged periods of hot, dry weather.

When Should You Dethatch Your Lawn?

Dethatching lawns should only be done when conditions are best to promote
rapid recovery of your grass. In the Greater Toronto Area, the best time to
dethatch is early-Spring or early-Fall. At Viking, we can dethatch your lawn for

Our customer in Mississauga was building a deck for one of his customers. He needed 2.5 x cubic yards of 3/4 clear limestone gravel with fabric spread after the footings were poured. Furthermore, he needed us to roto till a 16” wide trench, 3 inches deep around the perimeter of the deck so he has room for his bottom step.

Advantages of spreading gravel underneath the deck include:

✅ Prevents weeds from growing
✅ Protects footings
✅ More unpleasant for any critters who plan on living underneath the deck

These homeowners in Orangeville wanted to renovate their gardens. They wanted larger gardens as well a spot where they can put their new raised vegetables garden beds. So we removed all of the unwanted plants, roto tilled, defined the new expanded beds, landscape weed fabric, added edging to separate the pea stone area (for raised beds) and the rest of the garden, added 9 cubic yards of fresh triple mix, and disposed of all of the waste. Now they have a base for the new vegetable garden beds as well as a massive blank slate for the new plants to be planted. Since it’s the end of the season and all of the new plants haven’t been added, we won’t be adding mulch until the spring. They were amazing customers to work with who were so excited about the new gardens that the minute we finished and packed up, they arrived back from the garden centre with a car load of plants to add. As for the raised vegetable garden bed, they have been looking online at various build your own options.

Customer in Milton with a corner lot. Cut, dethatch, overseer and top dress with 1.5 cubic yards. Neighbours were so impressed two of them also asked for a cut and dethatch. Best time of year to treat your lawn, we offer all of the services you need to prepare your lawn for health and wellness so it looks its best best spring.

This customer in Milton has a massive backyard. New build - 2 years ago. The ground has been settling and the builder has been back to patch parts of the lawn. However there are massive ridges, dips, and uneven parts of the lawn. We used 50:50 mix to address these problem areas, and we will be back with 2 x additional cubic yards to address the areas around the foundation.

Our customer was renovating this older home of a family member before listing it for sale. The 3,000 square foot backyard needed some TLC, including a new lawn. The owner removed and graded the backyard before we got there. We arrived and spread 8 x cubic yards of 50:50 mix, and then laid 3,000 square feet of sod. It now looks so rejuvenated that throughout the process we had numerous neighbours compliment the transformation. Don’t forget that after laying new sod it’s vital to keep a regimented watering schedule for at least 3 weeks. @brayfordsod

Our customer in Caledon called us with an urgent, day-of request to cut, trim, weed and mulch prior to hosting long-weekend festivities. We made it work, took care of the yard, weeded the gardens and spread 1 x cubic yard of natural cedar mulch.

Our customer in Brampton wanted 14 Emerald Cedars planted in her backyard. 12” root bulb on those cedars so we dug a 11” deep x 2’ wide trench, 30 feet long. Used 50:50 mix as a base, mixed in a dash of bone meal, and topped and packed the remainder with 50:50, creating a proper slope for drainage. We’ll be back in 2 weeks for some mulching. Our customer was so hospitable, was a pleasure working with her.

Many home owners are experiencing water/drainage issues with all of the intense rain this summer. Our customers, next door neighbours in Thornhill, were having serious water draining issues along the fence line in their backyards. 3 x cubic yards of soil didn’t trick and we set them up for sodding on the weekend.

Our customer had a big DIY project on her hands but asked us to help her with installing a lawn after she finished building her deck. 500 square feet of fresh Kentucky bluegrass to help complete the first part of the backyard.

One of our realtor customers, @housepowerrealest8 needed us for a thorough yard cleanup for a listing in Orangeville. Major weeding of garden beds, lawn cut, trimming of weeds, mulching of garden beds, even the disposal of an old stove. Place looks great, even the neighbours were happy with the transformation.

Our customer recently moved into their new home in Orangeville. Wanted to create a nice yard for the family. 1500 square feet, 8 cubic yards of soil, and the backyard has been transformed. The “before” photo isn’t amazing but it gives can give you an idea of what it was like before the lawn Reno.

Our customer in Oakville has large gardens all around his property. We needed us to spread organic compost in all of them. They’re topped up, nutritious and he didn’t have to deal with any of the mess.

These customers in rural Brampton have a beautiful home, massive lot and large front gardens that needed some mulch. 3 x cubic yards of black cedar mulch and now the gardens look fresh.

These customers in Orangeville just had their concrete walkway finished. The yard is on a hill, hence making for a very rocky terrain. The grass around their new walkway was destroyed and the soil was very hard and rocky, they didn’t know what to do with it (see before + after photo). We came in and roto tilled the earth, disposed of all the old, rocky soil, spread 2 cubic yards of freshly made 50:50 mix soil, and laid 315 square feet of Kentucky Bluegrass sod freshly cut this morning. The homeowners will need to water twice per day, morning and evening, for 3 weeks, stay off it, and not cut it during that time.

A property manager reached out for some help for this property in Mississauga. His client is listing his property for rent in a gorgeous neighbourhood but the front garden didn’t help with the curb appeal. He removed the weeds but needed us to lay the landscape fabric and spread 1.5 cubic yards of black mulch. It looks much cleaner out front and they’re ready to bring in showings.

Our customers in Brampton had an above ground pool for years, but decided to take it down. We came in, removed a small tree, small garden, and roto tilled the soil to level it out around the edges of the pool. Removed and disposed of 4 x cubic yards of old soil, replaced it with 4 x cubic yards of fresh 50:50 soil. Finally, laid 675 square feet of fresh Kentucky Bluegrass sod. Was an extremely hot day, but the boys powered through it so we could finish in 1 day. When laying fresh sod be sure to water twice per day, stay off the grass and don’t cut it for three weeks at least. #brayfordsod #salisburygarden

Our fantastic customer in Brampton has this concrete work done in front of his house. He needed help filling the built-in garden bed, as well as spreading soil and overseeding where the concrete caused damage to his lawn.

Like so many home owners who have newer built homes that back onto their neighbours, these wonderful customers in Brampton have a small ditch/trench that runs along the back of their property along the fence line to handle the water run-off. As a result, grass can’t grow and even gardens become too saturated. A popular option is using decorative river rock to create a beautiful rock garden that allows the water to pass, but is also practical and visually appealing. For this family, we first laid landscape fabric to prevent weed growth, then spread 2 x cubic yards of large (3-6 inch) river rock in their backyard. They were extremely pleased and happy to say goodbye to the muddy, weedy mess that was there before.

Our customer in Etobicoke had several large, beautiful gardens that required 4 x cubic yards of black mulch. A few interruptions with the intense rain but we finished before dark.

Rock garden created for our customer in Milton. We delivered and spread 3 x cubic yards of small (1-3 inch) local river rock in his backyard, between the concrete patio and the fence. In one of the photos you can see the colour when wet once they get sprayed by the hose.
